A love story.
I'd like to take a moment to write a post about my significant other. I know, I know. You probably don't want to read a whole lovey dovey post but I just feel I have to write it. So, you can skip this if you're not into this type of thing.
I met Jacob when I was 12 and awkward. He was 14 and oh so very nerdy.
(Thankfully, we both got our braces off, Jake stayed just as cute and I finally got out of my awkward stage.)
We went to a tiny little school and naturally, everyone knew each other. It wasn't until two years later, that Jake started dating my best friend, Kayleigh. (Yes, I totally broke the "girl code") Kayleigh and I were very close and all three of us went to the same youth group so I finally became "real" friends with Jacob. The entire time, I was somewhat jealous. I had always somewhat admired him from afar but knew it just wouldn't happen. So I guess you could say I had a crush deep down but it was certainly something I never talked about.
After a few months, Jake and Kayleigh broke up and we remained friends. We had a bit of a falling out that winter and didn't really speak for a few months. Then on May 17th, 2009, I decided to get on the good old MySpace and wish Jake a happy birthday. Next thing I knew, we were constantly texting and he asked me to "hang out." Being the clueless girl I always am, I thought he just wanted to be friends. We met up at a park one night where we talked for hours and held hands for the first time. As they say, the rest is history.
Since then, we've gone through things I never thought we would go through and had more amazing times than I ever thought imaginable. From the very beginning, we knew this wasn't just any relationship and boy, were we right. I have grown so much from this relationship and I know Jacob has as well. It's never been without it's huge bumps in the road but after having lived through those bumps and seen what they taught us, I wouldn't change any of it. I'm so overwhelmingly blessed to be able to experience such a beautiful thing.
